DR. WINSLOW - HISTORY/CV

Dr. Boyd Winslow grew up in New England and graduated from Harvard College in 1970 and Harvard Medical School in 1974 before training in Surgery and Urology at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). During his years at MGH, he pursued additional training in renal transplantation and in pediatric urology, completing his residencies and fellowships in 1981.

In 1981, he and his wife Mary, along with their growing family, moved to Norfolk, VA, where he served the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters for 14 years, eventually becoming its Chief of Urology and Professor in the Department of Urology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Winslow’s primary interest in reconstructive surgery of the genitalia was developed in Norfolk when he partnered with Dr. Charles Devine and Dr. Charles Horton, pioneers in the field.

In 1995, Boyd, Mary, and their five children moved to Richmond where his practice was assimilated into Virginia Urology. It grew into a specialized practice, Children’s Urology of Virginia, of which he was president for ten years.

Over these years, Dr. Winslow performed revision surgery on thousands of newborn circumcisions that had yielded poor results. He developed techniques to perform newborn circumcisions with compassion and expertise to improve the likelihood of long-term success.

He retired from the full-time practice of Pediatric Urology in 2016 and then began the formation of a new venture, Winslow Newborn Circumcisions, PLLC, in 2017. In this practice, his extensive background and skills enable him to be a primary newborn circumcision resource for the Richmond and central Virginia community.
